CHECKRIDE 1
Location: Caucasus Map / Kobuleti Airfield (KBL)
Appox Time to Complete: 1 Hour
AM01 – ADV NAVIGATION & FORMATIONS Perform proper squadron airfield start/taxi/takeoff procedures, fly to both TACAN and GPS waypoints within assigned time standards, and fly required administrative and tactical formations within standards
PASS/FAIL: Must pass all required FAMs.
FAM01 – AIRFIELD TAXI PROCEDURES Demonstrate knowledge of proper squadron taxi procedures while at airfields.
PASS/FAIL: Must be able to demonstrate proper taxi interval, placement and spacing along with appropriate radio calls. Must also be demonstrate knowledge of procedures for both single ship and section operations as well as night operations.
FAM02 – AIRFIELD TAXI TAKEOFF & DEPARTURE PROCEDURES Demonstrate knowledge of proper squadron takeoff and departure procedures.
PASS/FAIL: Must be able to demonstrate proper takeoff procedures, interval, placement and spacing along with appropriate radio calls. Demonstrate proper procedures and comms for departure. Must also be demonstrate knowledge of procedures for the following:

Section and Individual Takeoffs

Single ship and section takeoff and departure operations
-
Night takeoff and departure operations.
FAM03 – TACAN: DIRECT TO NAVIGATION Navigate and fly over the assigned TACAN station
PASS/FAIL: Must be able to fly within 1 nautical mile of assigned TACAN station within plus/minus 500 feet of assigned altitude.
FAM04 – TACAN: COURSELINE NAVIGATION Navigate and fly to assigned TACAN station using specified bearing/course line.
PASS/FAIL: Must be able to fly within 2 miles of assigned radial to assigned TACAN within plus/minus 500 feet of assigned altitude.
FAM05 – TACAN: LEAD TURNS Execute calculated lead turn from assigned inbound radial to assigned outbound radial to prevent overfly or overshoot of planned route.
PASS/FAIL: Must demonstrate proper method to calculate lead turn distance and not exceed more that 2 miles deviation from planned outbound course. No altitude requirement.
FAM06 – GPS: TIME OVER TARGET (TOT) NAVIGATION Must be able to navigate assigned GPS waypoint at specified time.
PASS/FAIL: Must be able to fly within 1 nautical mile of assigned GPS waypoint, within plus/minus 500 feet of assigned altitude, and within plus/minus 10 seconds of assigned time over target.
FAM07 – ADMIN & TAC FORMATIONS Demonstrate the knowledge and ability to fly required administrative and tactical formations used by the squadron.
PASS/FAIL: Must be able to demonstrate proper positioning in the following formations:

Parade Formation (plus or minus .10 nautical mile)

Cruise Formation (plus or minus .25 nautical mile)
FAM08 – AIRFIELD ARRIVAL & LANDING PROCEDURES Demonstrate knowledge of proper squadron arrival and landing procedures.
PASS/FAIL: Must be able to demonstrate proper the following:

Proper approach procedures, Top of descent, and required communications

Straight In approach procedures
-
Overhead (Break) Recovery Procedures (single & section)

Section and Individual Landings
-
Night landing operations.

Approx Time to Complete: 40 Mins
AM02 – CASE III CARRIER LAUNCH / RECOVERY PROCEDURES Carrier Case III launch, pattern, approach and landing procedures.
PASS/FAIL: Must be able to fly properly conduct case III launch and recovery procedures.
FAM09 – CARRIER TAXI PROCEDURES Demonstrate knowledge of proper squadron taxi procedures while onboard aircraft carrier.
PASS/FAIL: Must be able to demonstrate proper taxi and spacing along with appropriate radio calls. Must be demonstrate knowledge of procedures for both single ship and section operations as well as night operations.
FAM10 – CARRIER TAXI TAKEOFF & DEPARTURE PROCEDURES Demonstrate knowledge of proper squadron carrier takeoff and departure procedures.
PASS/FAIL: Must be able to demonstrate proper takeoff procedures along with appropriate radio calls. Demonstrate proper procedures and comms for departure. Must be the following:

Proper Clearing Turn and direction

Maintain plus or minus 5 degrees of Departure headings, plus or minus 10 KIAS of departure airspeed, and plus or minus 100 feet of departure altitudes

Cleared distances and Carrier radial arching
Must also be able to demonstrate knowledge of the following:

Night takeoff and departure operations.
FAM11 – TACAN: POINT TO POINT NAVIGATION Fly to an assigned Radial/DME “Fix” using aircraft instruments.
PASS/FAIL: Must fly within 2 miles of assigned Radial/DME Fix
FAM12 – CASE III HOLDING PATTERN Enter and fly holding pattern as assigned by ATC and depart as assigned push time.
PASS/FAIL: Must be able to fly holding pattern on assigned radial, within plus or minus 1000 feet of assigned altitude, and depart the pattern within plus or minus 30 seconds of assigned push time with all appropriate radio calls. No restrictions on airspeed or distance from aircraft carrier.
FAM13 – CASE III APPROACH & RECOVERY Fly Case III Approach and trap safely aboard the deck.
PASS/FAIL: Must be able to demonstrate the following

Course line tracking inbound to the ship (where applicable)

Proper decent rates during approach (plus or minus 2000 feet/min)

Altitude (plus minus 500 feet of assigned altitude)
