BASIC PLATFORM INDOCTRINATION (BPI)

QUALIFICATION

PRIMARY OBJECTIVES

 

OBJECTIVE 1: Become more familiar with the F/A-18C Hornet cockpit and it's functionality

​

OBJECTIVE 2: Learn how to execute advanced navigation and timing, through use of precision waypoints, sequencing and time over target (TOT) functionality

​

OBJECTIVE 3: Learn proper squadron airfield launch, recovery, and transit procedures 

​

OBJECTIVE 4: Learn the CASE III Launch & Recovery procedures that are essential for night and bad weather carrier operations

Waypoint 1:  High-level turnpoint

Waypoint 2:  High-level turnpoint

Waypoint 3:  Initial Point

Waypoint 5:  Egress/Case III drop-off

Recovery:     Carrier via CASE III

PASS/FAIL CRITERIA                                                                                    

  • All waypoints must be overflown within 2 miles

  • Must arrive at target within + or - 10 seconds

  • Must perform CASE III Recovery in entirety with push time within + or - 30 seconds

  • Must successfully trap aboard carrier

​
