QUALIFICATION

BPI-01: PRIMARY OBJECTIVES
 
OBJECTIVE 1: Learn VFA-147 airfield launch and recovery procedures

OBJECTIVE 2: Learn how to navigate to multiple waypoints using Tactical Air Navigation (TACAN) radios

OBJECTIVE 3: Learn the difference between slant range and horizontal ranges

OBJECTIVE 4: Learn the difference between overflight vs. course line navigation and how to calculate and execute lead turns

Waypoint 2:  High-level turnpoint

Waypoint 3:  Initial Point

Waypoint 5:  Egress/Case III drop-off

Recovery:     Carrier via CASE III

PASS/FAIL CRITERIA                                                                                    

  • All waypoints must be overflown within 2 miles

  • Must arrive at target within + or - 10 seconds

  • Must perform CASE III Recovery in entirety with push time within + or - 30 seconds

  • Must successfully trap aboard carrier
